Our sister island Gozo is a tranquil haven for all those looking for a change of pace. Gozo is smaller and greener than Malta and is well-known for agriculture and fishing. Although small, there is so much to do in Gozo, making it a popular destination for families.
The capital city is called Victoria (or Rabat) and is the heart of the island. This is where you can find a variety of shops, cafes, restaurants and open-air markets. If you explore the narrow streets of Victoria, you will discover small locally-run shops which sell handmade lace, clothes, produce and liquors.
Victoria is also the home of the Cittadella - a citadel which lies at the top of a steep hill. This citadel was used as a refuge for Gozitans during times of conflict, but is now one of Malta's UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Here you can also find some small traditional shops, a restaurant, and the Cathedral of the Assumption.
One can easily spend a day walking around Victoria to get a feel of true Gozitan lifestyle, and explore the rich history of the capital city. ... See MoreSee Less
