Marsaxlokk is a lovely fishing village which is located in the South Eastern part of the island and is actually Malta’s largest fishing village.
This village is very popular for its daily open-air market - you can buy locally made products such as honey, jams, preserves and nougat. There are also local vendors selling fresh fruits and vegetables, and on hot days there is even an ice-cream truck!
On Sundays, many visitors go to Marsaxlokk for the fish market and buy fish from that morning’s catch. It is recommended that you head there early, as it can get quite busy during the day!
There are also some of Malta’s best restaurants along the promenade, with many of them offering fresh fish. The most popular kind of fish is the ‘lampuka’ and is available at these restaurants. ... See MoreSee Less
